The
Kings County Food Advisory Committee (FAC) was initially formed in 1993 primarily
to seek industry support and involvement in the food safety program. The FAC functions
as a forum to give retail food facility owners and operators a voice in the ongoing
improvement of our food safety program. In addition to meeting this need, the
FAC serves as a vehicle for food safety education. The committee chairperson is
Ron Reese, owner of Sizzler Restaurant in Hanford, who was initially selected
by the committee members. The committee is informally structured and is open to
all of the owners/managers of food facilities permitted within Kings County.
Active
members range from owner/operators of restaurants grossing over a million dollars
per year to small roadside produce stand vendors. New members are always welcome!
The committee
meets routinely to discuss pertinent food safety issues. Recent activities of
the committee include review of state law changes, educational presentations given
by guest speakers and the distribution of our annual Food
Safety All Star Awards. Anyone interested in more information about this group
should contact our office at 559-584-1411.
