Public Health Nurses in Kings County are generalists.
Services are provided for a range of ages from birth to the elderly for all kinds of medical issues. Assessments are done through home visiting. If a case is opened, it will be managed according to Targeted Case Management guidelines, including referrals to appropriate services. Coordination of services is provided for the client with the medical provider, social services, school personnel, early intervention services, and other appropriate agencies.
The Nurse of the Day (NOD) provides nursing consultation and services to the community, medical providers, and other agencies by phone or walk-in basis. Service is available from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The NOD may be reached by calling 582-3211 ext 2689 or 1-800-649-5399.
Communicable Disease Services are provided by the Public Health Nursing Department. This includes investigation of reportable conditions, providing education to those clients with identified communicable diseases, and providing education to the community to prevent the exposure and spread of communicable diseases.
