Access Public Records and Online Services from Outside the Kings County network

The Kings County Clerk-Recorder is the recorder of real property documents and the custodian of all non judicial public records. Other duties include the issuance and registration of Marriage Licenses, Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates; Fictitious Business Names; Photocopier and Unlawful Detainer License; Notary Bond Filings and Oaths; and the Licensing of Process Servers and Legal Document Assistants.

Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Documents submitted for same day recording must be presented to our office between 8:30 am and 3:00 p.m. Title companies must submit documents for recording between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. in order to receive the 8:00 recording time. Documents presented by title companies after 8:30 a.m. will receive the real time stamp.  Recordable Documents presented after 3:00 p.m. will be recorded the next business day. All requests for vital records, including marriage licenses, and all other filings must be requested prior to 4:00 p.m. on regular business days. The types of documents that may be filed with the County Clerk-Recorder are established by California law. Once a document is recorded it becomes a public record. Copies of recorded documents are available during normal office hours.

The Kings County Clerk-Recorder’s Office Public Records system allows us to publish, as a free service to our community, searchable indexes for Birth, Death, Marriage, Real Estate, & Fictitious Business Names.

In addition to the indexes, you are also able to complete and submit applications for Fictitious Business Names and Marriage Licenses on-line.  Once these applications are submitted to the Clerk-Recorder’s Office you will need to come in person to complete your transaction.  Further instructions can be found on the application forms.  We hope you will find these services useful.

The Clerk-Recorder is also the local Commissioner of Civil Marriages and performs wedding ceremonies. Arrangements for marriage ceremonies must be made in person after obtaining a marriage license.  For any questions, please call (559) 852-2470.
