Federal law prohibits:
Delaying or denying the placement of a child for adoption or into foster care on the basis of the race, color or national origin of the adoptive or foster parent, or the child involved.
Denying to any individual the opportunity to become a foster or adoptive parent on the basis of the race, color or national origin of the individual or child involved.
If you believe you have been discriminated against you may take any of the the following actions:
Speak to the County Welfare Department's Civil Rights Representative. The county will investigate the complaint and inform you of the outcome.
You may file a discrimination complaint with the California Department of Social Services by email, writing, or calling:
