Kings County Association of Governments (KCAG) was formally created in 1967 to provide a cooperative body for the resolution of issues that go beyond established jurisdictional boundaries. KCAG is a voluntary association of local governments, designated by the state of California. The major roles of KCAG are:

• To exchange planning information between the member agencies as related to planned area-wide development with emphasis on transportation;

• the identification and study of problems in areas of urban growth affecting various agencies;

• to consider questions of mutual concern to the County, Cities and other agencies and make recommendations on an advisory basis;

• to provide for citizen involvement in the planning process and provide technical services to the member agencies;

• to operate as the regional transportation planning agency.

In each of these areas, KCAG acts as a consensus builder to develop an acceptable approach on how to solve problems that are regional in nature.

Kings County Housing Element Update

The Cities of Avenal, Corcoran, Hanford, and Lemoore and the County of Kings are working together to develop a multi-jurisdictional  Housing Element.   

Caltrans Environmental Just Grant

CALTRANS LAUNCHES THE CALIFORNIA TRANSPORTATION PLAN 2035 WEB PORTAL

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the launch of a new interactive Web portal, www.californiatransportationplan2035.org, for the development of the California Transportation Plan 2035.  The plan is a statewide, long-range transportation plan that is updated every five years, and will be completed in September 2010.  It includes goals, policies, and strategies to achieve our collective vision for California’s future transportation system.

Blueprint Planning Process

Residents and stakeholders have provided input on how Kings County should grow over the next 40 years.
KCAG, in collaboration with planners from each of the Cities and County of Kings has prepared five alternative growth scenarios based on different land use assumptions, that provide unique illustrative concepts of how Kings County could look in the year 2050.

These growth scenarios were the focus of five public workshops held in May of 2008. Results from the four local workshops and the wrap-up workshop on May 22, 2008 are now available.

A summary of the vision and values from the first phase of the Blueprint public outreach is also available.

About Us

The Kings County Association of Governments is a Council of Governments responsible for addressing inter-jurisdictional public policy matters. KCAG is a voluntary organization whose member agencies are the cities of Avenal, Corcoran, Hanford, and Lemoore and the County of Kings.

KCAG is also a state-designated regional transportation planning agency (RTPA) recognized by the State's Business, Transportation, and Housing Agency. The RTPA is responsible for administering the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), preparing a Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP), the Federal Transportation Improvement Program (FTIP), reviewing the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and other state transportation programs, monitoring local public transit operations, overseeing federal transportation grant proposals, and administering the Local Transportation Fund (LTF) and State Transit Assistance (STA) funds.
